What does your work currently involve?
Capacity Development is responsible for strategic ownership issues, investment programmes and business development at Generation Nordic with the overall goal to maximise the value of the Nordic asset portfolio. My tasks are to support these activities from a legal and financial perspective. As such, my work is varying, encompassing everything from working with the annual strategy process for Generation Nordic and supplier strategies to investigating structural business transactions.
Why did you choose to participate in the trainee programme?
I was attracted by the programme’s thorough introduction to Vattenfall and its different business areas. Additionally, I found Vattenfall to be an interesting employer, as I want to take an active part in and influence decision making processes within the energy industry that is a globally important sector.
What did you get the most out of participating in the programme?
Apart from developing a lot on a personal level, I obtained solid insights into the organisation and built up a broad national as well as international network by spending six months on assignments at different business units in both Germany and Poland. Furthermore, the variation range of experiences was unbeatable. One day I could be giving a PowerPoint presentation dressed in a smart suit and the next day I would find myself visiting an open cast mine wearing muddy rubber boots and a hard hat.
What do you expect to work with in the near future?
Capacity Development is a new department since the beginning of this year and I look forward to familiarising myself with my new tasks.
