What does your work currently involve?
Group Function Procurement is established to steer, coordinate and harmonise the purchasing organisation within Vattenfall. My concrete area of responsibility is to improve how procurement is conducted in our large investment projects. At present I am among other things looking at a Group wide procurement strategy for Wind.
Why did you choose to participate in the trainee programme?
My interest in the energy industry was spurred whilst writing my dissertation for E.ON in Munich. The industry as such is always a relevant topic of public debate, which also makes Vattenfall a very interesting company to work for. Nowadays, Vattenfall is a large international company - in the trainee programme as well as in my current position, I have the opportunity to work in and with the Nordic countries, Germany and Poland which is perfect for me. The program in itself was also nicely organised as the first step in Vattenfall's leadershipdevelopment.
What did you get the most out of participating in the programme?
The personal development during the six very different seminar weeks was unbeatable. I also got very much out of my international assignments, because of experiencing so many very different parts of the organisation. It was actually during my time in Poland that I established the connections that eventually led me to getting my current position in Procurement.
What do you expect to be doing in the near future?
I will among other things participate in a project in Germany focusing on making efficiency improvements in the procurement function there. My role will involve creating networks so that purchasers in Germany begin cooperating with purchasers in Nordic and Poland. We strive for One Vattenfall also in Procurement!
