Magnus Brandberg

28 years old, works at Vattenfall Power Consultant with business development and strategic maintenance issues. Completed the trainee programme during the fall 2007.

Education: Master of Science in Energy Systems Engineering with complementary Business Administration and Economics Degree. During his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing music.

What does your work currently involve?

I'm currently working with strategic maintenance and life cycle optimization of power plants. The projects involve everything from improving the structure of the workplace to determining when parts of the facility needs replacement.

Why did you choose to participate in the trainee programme?

I have a passion for the energy industry! Electricity and heat issues are incredibly important prerequisites to our economic welfare and well-being. Also, Vattenfall is a European company that is active throughout the value chain of the energy business. That opens the door for learning all about the energy industry.

What did you get the most out of participating in the programme?

One day, I would be working in blue overall and a hard hat with maintenance of a hydropower station in northern Sweden. The next day, I might find myself wearing a suit and working on a strategic five-year plan. This variation enabled me to learn how a large company really works and the importance of communication and mutual respect for each person's contribution. On a personal level, I learned a great deal about myself and how I function in different kinds of groups and situations.

What do you expect to work with in the near future?

I'll be working with strategic maintenance issues. Right now, I'm involved in three different projects.
