Diversity
Our employees reflect the societies in which we operate.
We make sure all our employees have the same opportunities regardless of age, gender or ethnic and cultural background. Here are some examples of how we work actively to promote diversity in our workplaces.
Crossing cultures in Berlin
Berlin has the greatest number of Turkish residents than any city outside Turkey. The staff at Vattenfall’s Customer Service Centre in Berlin mirror this, meaning the centre has the language abilities and cultural skills required to give these customers high-quality service.
58+ in Sweden
To motivate employees in Sweden to continue in active duty until the age of 65, those over the age of 58 have the opportunity to cut their working hours to 80 per cent – while keeping a salary level of 90 per cent and with no negative effects on their pensions.
Women managers
We want the percentage of female managers to reflect the number of female employees at Vattenfall. In 2004, we began Vattenfall’s International Network for Women enabling female leaders to share experiences and knowledge.
The “Young Graduates” initiative
We give university graduates in Sweden an opportunity to join the workforce – bringing new knowledge to Vattenfall. Of the 45 people offered temporary project positions in 2005, 23 were women and 12 were of non-Swedish ethnic background. When the year was over, 37 of these people stayed on at Vattenfall.
The balance of work and family life
We work actively to ensure that there are no groundless differences in salaries between men and women, and to make it easy for our employees to combine work and family life.
