Future competence needs
It is crucial that Vattenfall has the right employees and skills to deal with future challenges.
Ann-Charlotte Dahlström, head of Human Resources at Vattenfall, outlines how Vattenfall is preparing for the future.
Good leaders
We're working to identify and assess all managers and future managers in the group. It’s very important that we understand their potential, and know how to help them develop their skills and grow professionally. Every manager has a personal development plan. They can take part in different projects or change jobs within the group. They can also participate in training, mentorship or career-coaching programmes.
The right competence
Many of our employees will soon be retiring. So we have to act now to make sure we have a high level of skills within our core businesses for years to come. Mostly, we need people with a technical background and good commercial knowledge. But we also need people with knowledge and skills in areas such as the environment, IT, project management and management. Of course, international experience or knowledge of other European languages is also valuable.
Employee commitment
My Opinion is an employee survey conducted yearly throughout the entire group. It tells us what employees in different countries think of their jobs and what they feel about Vattenfall as a workplace. In general, our employees are looking for a performance culture, with managers who communicate more, set clear targets and provide feedback. This is a good overall goal that everyone feels is clear and positive.
