What makes you the most enthusiastic about working for Vattenfall?

As an engineer for the draining of mines I am responsible for investment and maintenance of operational equipment of our water treatment plant. In my job I am confronted with different challenges every day. I work not only in the office, but also outdoors with our customers and I often get to use my interest for chemistry. I also appreciate the culture of openness between colleagues very much and that Vattenfall takes responsibility for environment, inhabitants and regional development in the mining area.

Do you feel you can develop your career within Vattenfall?

Vattenfall consists of so many sections working with different tasks in different places. Possible working fields as an engineer range from hydroelectric power plants in Sweden, over administration, mining in Lusatian region to planning of strategic items in Berlin. There are a lot of opportunities to get experienced and develop your career!

What advice would you give someone considering applying to Vattenfall?

The lignite-based generation is a regional business. Working here means understanding both people and history. One has to be open to this. If you act honestly, openly and friendly, people will welcome you the same way – as it always is. Although the business is regional, we work in an international Group. Being able to speak a foreign language helps a lot. Furthermore there are possibilities for working in other countries like Sweden and Poland.
