Environmental organisation

Environmental care is of great importance in all of our activities.

We have systematic procedures in place to ensure that environmental considerations are taken into account in every aspect of our operations.

Responsibility

Each of our business units has complete responsibility for planning, carrying out, following up on and developing its business. This include being responsible for the environment. Our operational units have set environmental targets, and environmental parameters are monitored. We also monitor how external stakeholders view our environmental performance.

Environmental Committee

We have established an Environmental Committee with an advisory function to the head of Group Environment. This committee also acts as a meeting place for best-practice sharing and identifying cross-border benefits from extended international cooperation within Vattenfall Group.

Centres of Excellence

As a major player on the European electricity market, Vattenfall has considerable experience and knowledge in the environmental field. We are interested in a wide range of environmental policies, and are a key dialogue partner for European and national policymakers in our core markets.

Under the Vattenfall Group Environmental Committee, four Centres of Excellence have been initiated. These centres follow and analyse policy developments, and function as a forum for information exchange. The forums are:

  • Air quality
  • Water protection
  • Waste and byproducts
  • Soil protection

When looking to the future, it is essential to consider day-to-day measures, as well as the large-scale breakthroughs
