On this website, there is a lot of information about Vattenfall's strategies, actions and investments to curb climate change. Below, you will find some shortcuts.

Our view of climate change

Vattenfall understands the urgent need to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Read about our strategies and actions for developing and implementing carbon dioxide (CO2) -reducing measures.

Climate change strategies

Environmental projects

Vattenfall is investing strongly in efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and to limit the environmental effects of different energy sources. Read about energy efficiency programs, investments in renewable energy and more.

Emission reduction

Vattenfall´s environmental and climate work has a wide scope, though reducing CO2 emissions is the number one objective and all aspects of operations will be monitored with respect to this objective. Read about Vattenfall’s emission reduction goals.

CCS – Carbon Capture and Storage

We need to significantly reduce emissions of CO2 in order to halt climate change. Alternative and sustainable energy sources are being developed but need more time. Fossil fuels will be needed for yet some time. CO2 capture and storage (CCS) can support the transition to a low CO2 energy system. Vattenfall’s project on CCS aims at developing a commercially viable concept by 2020.
