Simplified illustration of Vattenfall's project on CCS
1) Coal is extracted and transported to the power plant.
2) Coal is combusted and electricity is generated.
3) Carbon dioxide is separated, captured and then transported to the storage site.
4) Very limited amounts of CO2 will be emitted to air. Water vapour from the cooling towers will still be seen.
5) The carbon dioxide is injected deep below the surface for permanent storage.
