Highlights

This section highlights our key ambitions in Vattenfall’s CSR work. Our objective is to contribute to a sustainable development of society through efficient and reliable energy sources, which enhance our customers’ environment and quality of life.

Sustainable development is always a relative concept. It’s a question of finding the best solution using available technologies on the basis of balancing environmental, social and economic factors. To succeed with our ambition to contribute to sustainable develpoment, we act according to our five strategic ambitions:

  • Number one for the customer
    To gain and retain customers’ trust and loyalty we need to offer energy that enhances their competitiveness, environment and quality of life. Having satisfied customers who put their trust in Vattenfall is essential for our ability to successfully develop energy solutions that are compliant with sustainable development.
     
  • Number one for the environment
    Demands on the energy industry to contribute to sustainable develpoment are growing. We want to curb sustainable develpoment by taking a leading position in low emitting electricity generation and heat production, and our goal is to find solutions that lead to efficient energy use and conserve resources. Accordingly, we put great focus on reducing CO2 emissions through Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) technology and replacing ageing technology.
     
  • Profitable growth
    Having the long-term ability to invest in new, sustainable electricty and heat generation and thereby achieve our vision requires that we continuously create economic value in our operations.
     
  • Benchmark for the industry
    Our ambition is to run our plants in the best possible way and to be the Benchmark of the Industry in everything we do. Consequently our efforts are directed not only towards achieving high productivity and cost effectiveness; they are also about achieving high quality in all aspects, from environmental efficiency in our daily work to making the right long-term investment decisions.
     
  • Employer of choice
    Vattenfall’s long-term success requires that we have the right competence, good leadership and committed employees. This enables us to continuously improve our organisation and the way we do things, thereby preparing Vattenfall for future opportunities and challenges.
