Lillgrund wind farm

With 48 turbines, Lillgrund is the third biggest wind power farm in the world.

Energy production started in December 2007 and Lillgrund wind farm will provide electricity to approximately 60,000 households. Located just off the south coast of Sweden, Lillgrund was built on commercial property with an investment of approximately SEK 1,8 billion.

Local approval

Vattenfall acquired the permits to build in 2004. However, the benefits of a wind farm must always be balanced against the impact on the local area. Vattenfall maintains a close dialogue with local residents, holding one-to-one meetings and answering questions.

Find power at sea

Wind power is essential to increasing the generation of electricity from renewable sources. There is a great potential for wind power at sea, where stronger winds give more energy.

Finacial support needed

New electricity production plants are more expensive than existing ones. To develop further, wind power at sea needs financial support from society.
