Visit and contact us
Please feel free to visit or contact us. Here you will find contact details as well as information about study visits at Forsmark.
We receive around 15,000 visitors every year in our information centre at Forsmark. The visit is free of charge and you have the opportunity to acquire a great deal of knowledge about nuclear power and energy. We are open on weekdays (except public holidays) between 7.45 am and 3.45 pm. Our information centre houses an exhibition depicting Forsmark’s operations and history. There is also information about the work of the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company aimed at finding a suitable bedrock for a future final repository for the highly radioactive spent nuclear fuel. If you have any questions, there is always an information officer close at hand to help you.
Book a study visit
If you would like further information in addition to that provided by the exhibition, we recommend that you book a study visit. It is a good idea to make your booking in plenty of time. You should ideally book your visit approximately six months before you and your group want to come. In the summer we are moving our information operation to Forsmarks Bruk (Forsmark ironworks). Here you will find a tourist information office in the idyllic Vallonbruket (Walloon ironworks) dating from the 16th century. A selection of what a study visit might include:
- Guided tour inside a nuclear power plant.
- Visit to a control room simulator.
- Visit to Biotestsjön, our unique research facility.
- Visit to the final depository for low and intermediate-level radioactive waste, SFR, which is located 1 km out to sea and 50 m below the sea bed.
- Visit to a site investigation regarding a possible final depository for highly radioactive spent nuclear fuel.
- Guided tour of our old Walloon ironworks dating from the 16th century.
NOTE!
With a view to personal safety, individuals with physical disabilities may not participate in visits to the nuclear power plant or the final repository, SFR. It is necessary to be able to walk unimpeded without aids.
Age limits:
- For visits inside the power plant: 16 years
- For visits to the final repository, SFR: 7-15 years in the company of a parent or guardian, 16 years without a parent or guardian
