Time for this year’s overhaul shutdowns at Forsmark
This year’s overhaul season has started at Forsmark, during which the reactors will be refuelled, and maintenance and investment measures will be taken. This is aimed at preparing the plants for continued safe and reliable power generation.
Forsmark 1 is the first in line, and is scheduled for a long overhaul this year. This is planned to last for 49 days, and will thus allow time for major plant modifications and maintenance work. Some of the major work includes changing the main cooling water pumps for the condenser and replacement of the incoming 70 kV power supply cable.
The overhauls on Forsmark 2 and Forsmark 3 will be of medium duration and will be dominated by refuelling. On Forsmark 2, five control rod drives will be replaced, several large pumps will be overhauled and preparations will be made for changing the containment steam valves.
The work to be done on Forsmark 3 will include separation of the power supplies for the operating and safety systems. In addition, three heat exchangers for the main circulation pumps will be changed.
Overhaul dates in 2008
Forsmark 1: 11 May – 29 June
Forsmark 2: 17 August – 8 September
Forsmark 3: 13 July – 7 August
