Contractors and consultants at Ringhals
Here we have gathered information regarding the requirements you need to consider and arrange ahead of your assignment at Ringhals.
Before you can come on site and work at Ringhals, we need various certificates from you. When all the paperwork is in order, entry controls take place quickly and smoothly. To the right there are links to training courses you may need to complete before carrying out your assignment for us. If you are going to work here, we require:
Security and safety training, applies to everyone except visitors
Security clearance including register control, for access to operational areas (protected areas)
Medical examination / Health declaration, for work in radiological environment
Preregistration
In order to enter Ringhals, you must be preregistered in advance. Your contact person here is responsible for preregistering you, and the one to turn to if you have any questions. You can then sign for your ID badge in the reception building at Security. Remember to bring identification documents with you.
Security and safety training
Anyone who is to work at Ringhals must complete our security and safety training. This is done when you arrive, in the reception building. Ask your contact person to make a reservation for you on a course in English. The training is valid for 3 years. The course can be repeated via the interactive training here on our website (see the link to the right).
Clean System training
Will you be working at Ringhals and have access to the controlled area or other areas in which your work could affect the cleanliness of our systems? If so, you must undergo Clean System training. The training is interactive, and you undergo the training here on our website. See the link to the right.
Security clearance including register control
In order to gain access to Ringhals’ protected areas (operational and waste areas), or to work in our IT systems, we demand the following:
- Implemented security background check, collective corporate certificate
- Permission for register control, signed by the individual
- The Swedish Security Service’s form for register control, personal data filled in by the individual
The forms can be found among the links to the right. Each supplier issues its own security background check for its personnel. A register control is then performed, by the Swedish police in the crime register. Send in the certificates at least 8 weeks before arrival. The certificates and the register control are valid during the period the person/company is working at Ringhals. The register control may need to be renewed if the time between two work periods is more than one year. Also when a person changes company, new information as described above is required.
Drug test
In order to gain access to Ringhals’ operational areas (protected areas), or for work lasting more than five days on the industrial site, we demand that you undergo a drug test. The following substances are tested for: amphetamines, cannabinoids, opiates and cocaine. The drug test can be performed at your own occupational health service or at another medical establishment.

Send in the certificate at the latest 7 days before your arrival.The certificate is valid for 3 years.
Radiological medical examination/health declaration
All personnel that enters radiologically controlled areas are required to have a medical certificate stating that he or she is fit for work with ionising radiation (category A). The contractor should make sure that the medical examination is done prior to the arrival at Ringhals. If you show documents of medical examinations, with respect to ionising radiation from the country where you now live, this will be accepted by Ringhals. However, if you live in a country that has no such scheme, Ringhals requires a medical examination no older than 1 year stating fit for work with ionising radiation. Please note that in Ringhals 1 (BWR) the turbine is also in radiologically controlled areas. An examination performed in Sweden according to Swedish regulations will also be accepted, however Ringhals cannot provide this service.
Dose declaration
All personnel are required to present a documented dose record covering the last five years. Citizens of the European Union shall present their dose passports. If your country does not issue such dose passports you are required to provide the dose record through other documents. The Ringhals dose report form, among the links to the right, may be used in this case if the form is signed by the contractor management. If you have recently acquired exposures you are required to present the preliminary doses when arriving at Ringhals. The dose accumulated during the last five years must not exceed 95 mSv and should leave sufficient margin for the dose expected during the work at Ringhals.
