Time for this year’s overhaul shutdowns at Ringhals
This year’s overhaul season has started at Ringhals, during which the reactors will be refuelled, and the maintenance and investment measures will be taken. This is aimed at preparing the plants for continued safe and reliable power generation.
Ringhals 2 is the first in line. The work that will be done during the three-week shutdown will include overhaul of one of the high-pressure turbines and one of the reactor coolant pumps, in addition to extensive testing.
Ringhals 3 and Ringhals 4 will also undergo overhauls of medium duration this year. Work on Ringhals 3 will include replacement of a reactor coolant pump and preparations for increasing the output.
All control rod drives of Ringhals 4 will be changed, and so will the rotor of one generator. In addition, a test of the containment air tightness will be carried out.
This year’s overhaul of Ringhals 1 will be somewhat longer than usual, since a great deal of work is scheduled to be done. This includes preparation for safety improvement measures that will be introduced next year, and changing of the pipes and valves in the seawater cooling system.
