Sweden

Sweden is part of the Nordic market, which comprises approximately 19 million people. Vattenfall offers a broad range of energy-related products and services.

Vattenfall was founded in 1909 in Sweden. In 1992 Vattenfall was transformed from a public utility into a Swedish state-owned company. In 1996 the electricity market was deregulated. In Sweden we focus on generation, distribution and sales of electricity and heat. We also offer our private customers telecom services. For industrial customers we also provide customised energy solutions, as well as consulting and contracting services. About 50 per cent of Sweden’s electricity production originates from Vattenfall. The main forms of power are nuclear power and hydropower. Vattenfall is the main regional and local network operator in Sweden with 900,000 customers.
