Within a few years, vast desert areas near the town of Al Ain in Abu Dhabi will have their own electricity system.
And because electricity improves opportunities for irrigation, the barren desert could be turned into fertile farmland.

Vattenfall Power Consultant is constructing seven transformer stations, and a grid comprising 200 kilometres of cable and 100 kilometres of overhead wire. The new facilities will provide electricity to a large number of small farms as well as some industrial areas. Conducting the assignment for the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, we are responsible for purchasing documentation, construction management and supervision of the project
