Clean output at new Avedöre 2
State-of-the-art combustion technology gives Copenhagen residents access to cleanly produced energy.
Avedöre 2 became operational in January, 2002, allowing a number of coal-fired electricity works, totalling 500 MW, to be phased out.
New technology creates efficiency
Avedöre 2 uses very high temperature pressure boilers and gas turbines – making electricity production about 30 per cent more efficient than the previous works. Its advanced multi-fuel technology allows for a combination of various fuels, including natural gas and locally produced biofuels such as straw.
Broader benefits
Working for Energi E2, Vattenfall Power Consultant has carried out tasks within steam, gas and electricity. Our work has also involved purchasing, project realisation, start-up supervision and initial control room operation. Since 1994, 20 consultants have worked on-site in the Avedöre 2 project-group. Mr. Morgan Halvarsson, who is in charge of the Vattenfall Power Consultant staff at Avedöre, feels that the project has improved the consultants, as well as the plant. "Taking part in a high-tech project like this is boosting our employees’ qualifications further, and we will utilise these skills in future projects in Europe," he says.
