EU cooperation

The project on CCS is performed by Vattenfall. A large part of the research and development is carried out in cooperation with our partners. ENCAP, CO₂STORE, CO₂SINK, CASTOR and CO₂NET are such projects that are, in part financed by the EU.

ENCAP

Vattenfall is the coordinator of ENCAP. The main objective of the project is to develop the technology around capturing carbon dioxide. The focus is on pre-combustion and oxyfuel combustion.

CO₂STORE

Vattenfall participates in the European research project CO₂STORE. The project will lead to a better theoretical understanding of large-scale storage of carbon dioxide. The project includes four case studies in Norway, the United Kingdom, Germany and Denmark.

CO₂SINK

Vattenfall is one of 14 European participants in the EU project CO₂SINK. The project will increase knowledge on underground storage of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide will be injected in an aquifer in Ketzin in eastern Germany.

CO₂NET

Vattenfall also participates in CO₂NET. CO₂NET is the European Network of researchers, developers and users of carbon dioxide technology.
