Central assumptions & major uncertainties for the buildings sector
- Traditional biomass is assumed to be harvested in a sustainable manner and therefore CO2-neutral.
- Washing machines are assumed to improve at an annual rate of 3.7%, driven by improved motors and reduced hot water consumption.
- Annual increase in average water heater consumption is assumed to be 1.0%t. For air condition, the corresponding figure is 0.8%.
- Regarding the process of building and rebuilding, 75% of all standing stock is assumed to be renovated by 2030.
When calculating abatement costs, primary energy is valued at €16/MWh for coal and district heating, €40 /MWh for gas and €35/MWh for oil (end-user prices less taxes).
