Vattenfall international trainee programme

The great challenges facing the world today require people who strive to think along new lines and find new solutions. Therefore we are looking for graduates who stand on their own two feet and take responsibility to follow their commitments.

Starting in 2012, Vattenfall will run Vattenfall international trainee programme every year. The aim is to accept 15-20 trainees each year to the programme. The recruiting process has started with the ads for each position published here on our website. Choose trainee programme as "position type" search criteria.

We will accept applications sent in on line until March 1st.

It is possible to apply for more than one position provided that the criteria are met for each position. Generally speaking, Vattenfall is looking for young people that are proficient in English, are willing to move both geographically and well as within the Vattenfall Group, holding at least one academic degree no later than September 2012. Each position will have additional specific requirements.

The recruitment process in 2012

After March 1st the work to find the appropriate candidates will start, by sifting through all applications sent in on line. A number of candidates will be contacted to be interviewed, either via telephone or in face to face meetings. The candidates will meet with our HR people and in most cases also the line managers who are the one employing the trainees. In mid-May Vattenfall will organise two Assessment Centres one in Stockholm and one in Berlin, to which will we invite two candidates per trainee position for a full day’s assessment. Contracts are signed at the beginning of June and the programme itself will start in September 2012.

As an international trainee at Vattenfall, you are given the possibility to develop yourself professionally as well as personally during one year. Furthermore, you prepare for your future career and select the business area of your interest.

The most important goal of the international trainee programme is to prepare and develop the trainees for future challenges as specialists or managers.

During the programme

Trainees are employed in one of our business units and at different periods in other parts of the company in order to get a good overview over the whole Vattenfall Group. Between the different periods you will be invited to participate in various training sessions regarding business as well as personal development topics. The training sessions are together with your trainee colleagues from the other countries. These contact points allow you to build up a broad international network, both within and outside of your selected business field.
