Our markets
Vattenfall has decided to focus on three core markets: Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.
All of them are markets in which Vattenfall has a top three position, and together they account for around 95 per cent of the total cash flow.
Aside from Vattenfall’s three core markets, the UK and France represent growth markets, mainly in wind and hydro power, respectively. Vattenfall also has operations in Finland, Denmark and the UK.
The focus on the core markets has entailed a review of operations outside these markets that are not aligned with the long-term objective to create environmentally sustainable energy production.
In 2011 a number of divestments or agreements on divestments were carried out.
The largest divestments were:
- Vattenfall’s operations in Poland comprising the subsidiary Gornoslaski Zaklad Electroenergetyczny (GZE) and Vattenfall Heat Poland (VHP).
- Parts of the Finnish operations (electricity distribution and district heating)
- Vattenfall’s gas production in the Netherlands, Nuon Exploration & Production B.V.
- Vattenfall’s operation in Belgium – Nuon Belgium NV, Nuon Wind Belgium BV and Nuon Power Generation Wallon BV.
