King of the Slope

Vattenfall’s new mobile phone app, King of the Slope, is a must for everyone who enjoys skiing. The app turns every ski run into a challenge between you and your friends. Choose whether to compete against the clock, against your friends, or against everyone on the ski slope. That way you can find out who really is the best on a pair of skis.

King of the Slope works as a monitoring tool, logging how quickly you are skiing, your altitude, and the distance you have covered. The results can then be compared with other skiers at the same resort or throughout the world. It is easy to share results on Facebook, or in a banner that you can download for use on private websites or blogs. Create your own challenges, compete with your Facebook friends and keep an eye on their results.

The app has, of course, been tested by the Swedish National Alpine team.

Thousands of ski resorts in the app

King of the Slope can be used anywhere. Thousands of ski resorts are stored in the app’s database, and it uses GPS to set the skiing system for the resort you are at. You can also add your own favourite resort to the app via the Vattenfall website.

While skiing, the mobile does not need to be connected to data roaming, which could be expensive. Thanks to a GPS function, data for completed ski runs is synchronised as soon as the mobile has reception or a WiFi connection. The app also works when the mobile is locked, and therefore fits perfectly in your ski pants pocket.

Vattenfall is official sponsor of Swedish skiing and the International Ski Federation. We generate electricity – which helps in many ways to make your skiing experience more enjoyable. Electricity illuminates the slopes, powers the lifts and the time-keeping equipment, and enables snow cannons to cover the slopes with snow. In a word, energy for winter sports.
