Energy and climate week

The international energy and climate week was held in Stockholm, 9-11 June 2009. It included over 30 seminars with prominent speakers from the business and political sector from all over the world.

The theme on the first day was Vattenfall’s strategic focus: ‘Making Electricity Clean’ and the day was opened with speeches by Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy and Enterprise, Maud Olofsson, and Vattenfall’s CEO Lars G. Josefsson.

The second day, themed ‘Energy for a sustainable society’, included presentations from business executives such as Wolfgang Dehen of Siemens and Noel Morrin of Skanska, who described the capabilities within their respective companies to create low-carbon, and even zero-carbon, cities.

The king of Sweden H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf opened the final seminar day by saying that while impressed by Vattenfall’s efforts in the sustainable energy area, the environment presents a challenge to all of society. “We must all work together, and we need dedication and leadership to be successful,” he said.
