We are convinced that striving for diversity helps building a more profitable, effective and attractive company. A workforce with a multitude of backgrounds and experiences is more creative and willing to adapt to new input, different views, and ways of working, providing the business with a number of tangible advantages.
Equal opportunities as a basis

Everyone is treated with respect. Our view comprises all areas such as recruitment, wages, benefits, work environment, education, promotion and leadership.
Our diversity objectives
We want to use diversity as a resource to improve our performance because mixed teams are more successful in business. Therefore our overall ambition is to firmly establish diversity as a natural part of our daily business lives by increasing knowledge, acceptance and the willingness to work with the diverse aspects of our business. Therefore, our employees are to reflect the societies in which we operate with regards to diversity aspects.
To strengthen our diversity ambitions, we have joined the Swedish government's Global Responsibility initiative, meaning that we have committed ourselves to following the United Nations Global Compact and the OECD's guidelines for multinational companies.
Particular focus on Gender Diversity
We aim to increase the number of female managers to achieve a more diverse management culture in the organisation. This will support the business in order to be successful. Therefore, we have decided on a company target until 2015 which is set in our scorecard and monitored.
We have established activities to support this ambition. For example, we offer an international mentoring programme where our top management takes responsibility with an active mentoring role.
Vattenfall furthermore co-operates with Catalyst, an American non-profit organizaton focusing on supporting companies within the area of diversity, to gain professional support in reaching our goals.
