Sustainability reporting
Vattenfall has been a signatory of the UN's Global Compact since 2008, which is a platform of principles established especially for businesses in the areas of human rights, labour and the environment. The signatory of the UN Global Compact means that Vattenfall shall report improvements with a Communication on Progress (COP).
Since 2003 Vattenfall has been reporting its sustainability work in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The GRI is used to obtain measureable results and as a format for presenting open, clear and comparable information. Since 2011 Vattenfall has chosen to report according to GRI level B, instead of level A as previously, entailing that the company limits the number of reported indicators in order to thereby focus more on areas that are relevant and important.
The GRI section is reported separately and adheres to the GRI structure for environment, society and economy. It also includes a description of the company's governance structure and management system. All sustainability information is audited by an independent party.
Since 2006 we have published annual Corporate Social Responsibility reports according to GRI, where we address different topics that are crucial to our stakeholders. Since 2012 our Sustainability report is published together with the annual report.
