TU Hamburg-Harburg

At the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg the test facility has a thermal effect of 20 kW and is fired with pulverised, hard coal.

There is no recirculation of flue gases and to simulate Oxyfuel conditions, the oxidiser is set by mixing gases from bottles. Species such as NOx and SO2 can also be added to create the proper combustion conditions.

At the department, there is also a test cell for measurements of phase equilibrium. This is used to enhance the knowledge about the thermodynamics of the components in the Oxyfuel process. Currently a small scale CO2 liquefaction unit is built at the university, to enable verification of the result from the test cell.
