Partner in UK’s largest CCS project
UK’s largest Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) pilot plant is today, 30 November, opened at Ferrybridge Power Station in West Yorkshire. Vattenfall is a main partner in the project together with technology supplier Doosan Power Systems and SSE - the owner and operator of the coal-fired power plant.

Oxyfuel Circulating Fluidized Bed Technology – On the pathway to commercialisation
Previous studies carried out at Vattenfall together with Foster Wheeler Energia Oy have concluded that the circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler technology could potentially be a competitive option in oxyfuel applications. The main benefits include higher fuel flexibility, no need for separate deNOX or deSOX units and designs that can be operated more flexibly in air as well as oxyfuel mode without any major modifications.

Carbon dioxide en route from the Schwarze Pumpe power plant to Ketzin
