Bettina Bräuner Knudsen

Team manager for “Operations management and analysis”, Thermal Power in Fredericia, Denmark Please describe in short what you are working with.

My department works with long term planning, support to short term planning, and operation, market and system analyses. I'm mostly working with different kinds of analyses, long term planning and of course manager responsibilities - during a workday there is a mixture of different tasks.

What do you enjoy most in your work?

I really enjoy working for such a big and international company. I have so many different colleagues and the core business is not the same in the different Business Units. There are many different tasks within my BU and current position - one day I work with energy politics and the next with how to load-dispatch a CHP! There is a lot of travelling – I am usually at another office one or two days a week. I like this part of my job because I meet a lot of people and get an improved understanding of our business within Thermal Power.

What do you think is the benefit of working at Vattenfall?

As I have mentioned there are so many different aspects of working in an energy company, so I have learned that I can always learn more. I also learn how to operate in an international company. And last but not least: the energy business is a very interesting area to work within - it affects everybody!

Do you feel you can develop your career within Vattenfall? (How?)

Yes of course, because there are so many exciting areas. If I ask for responsibility, I am often entrusted with that.

What advice would you give someone considering applying to Vattenfall?

One of the best things about working at Vattenfall can also be one of the worst - a big company like Vattenfall has to set up a framework for how to do different things in order to standardise some areas. This framework is not always logical to the individual. As an applicant to Vattenfall you have to be aware of that. But I think this is typical for many larger companies.
